It’s not over and we can’t forget. We must not forget the destroyed lives, those who will no longer follow dreams, and those whose daily lives have taken a dreadful turn. We must not forget the atrocities visited upon innocent people, those removed by force to a country not their own. Where are they?
You and I can’t end this tragedy, but we can do something, and as I have repeatedly said, something is not nothing. Pray. Spread the word. Come stand with us at the courthouse. Give.
From Hannah and Misha, who are gathering military supplies in Vienna and Bratislava this weekend:
“Because of your donations, the van is now full of $7000.00 worth of military supplies and gear, and we will transport it all to Ukraine tomorrow. Have I said thank you lately? I wish I could say it in person. Thank you for donating because, without your donations, Misha and I wouldn’t be driving this van full of gear down the highway in Austria. Thank you so much.
In one of the stores in Vienna today, I counted thirteen Ukrainian people and the shop owners were switching between four languages to accommodate everybody. Everyone was purchasing something for someone they knew: a brother, a partner, a father, a best friend. I kind of paused what I was doing (packing military boots and tying laces together) and watched Misha moving around the store, speaking Ukrainian and telling people, “No, don’t buy that. Buy this one; this is what our soldiers like,” and “Oh, you’re from Vinnitsya? I’m from Uzhhorod,” and I felt a surge of hope and pride, which I welcomed after a week of feeling heavy and tired and angry.
One of the shop owners chaotically threw a big bundle of tactical gloves into the bag I was holding and said, “Here! To the soldiers from me!”
To the soldiers from me. To the soldiers from you. To the soldiers, from all of us. Thank you.”
A poem for you from Hannah:
Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
We ate really big sausages in Vienna.
Please donate to the Ukrainian soldiers.
Please keep sharing and donating and praying and staying informed.
Just donated again! Thank you for reminding me. It’s easy to forget when we have so much comfort, beauty and peace here. I’m grateful to Hannah and Mischa for the first incredible “boots on the ground” work they’re doing, and to you for guiding us to this direct way to help support.
